Recap: Falcon Falcons vs. Coronado Cougars

The Falcon Falcons came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 72-65 victory over Coronado. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Christian Bertholf was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Potts, who scored 13 points along with five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Coronado lost, one person who can't be blamed is Realiti Smith. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jalyn Jarboe, who scored 16 points.

Falcon's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. As for Coronado, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Falcon the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Fountain-Fort Carson at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Hopefully Fountain-Fort Carson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Thursday. As for Coronado, they will head out on the road to take on Canon City at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Canon City is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
