Softball Recap: Crestwood Comets vs. Wyoming Valley West Spartans

Crestwood can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Wyoming Valley West Spartans as the Crestwood Comets made off with a 10-2 win. Crestwood might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four matches by eight runs or more this season.

Charlene Daisey tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Celia Stahlnecker and Madison Mendrzycki did most of the damage at the plate: Stahlnecker went 2-for-3 with three runs, a triple, and a double, while Mendrzycki got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, a triple, and an RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Allyson Babula, who scored a run while going 4-for-5.

On Wyoming Valley West's side, Isabella Seip was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with a home run. Riley Lynch was another key contributor, going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

Crestwood's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8. As for Wyoming Valley West, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Crestwood didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-4 loss vs. Wilkes-Barre on the 1st. Wyoming Valley West has also already played their next contest, a 6-5 defeat against Hazleton Area on the 1st.
