Softball Recap: Pope County Gets the Win

Pope County's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Gallatin County Hawks. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won three in a row.

Jasmine Coram spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pope County let Bella Fasolo and Riley Presser run wild. Fasolo went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Presser went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Jaydan Holmes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Pope County's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Gallatin County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Coming up, Pope County will take on Galatia/Thompsonville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bearcats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Gallatin County, they will square off against Fairfield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mules have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
