Plainfield East took a 41-point loss the last time they faced off against Plainfield South, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bengals skirted past the Cougars 43-41. The game was the first time the Bengals have beaten the Cougars on their court since December 8, 2022.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was La'Niya Willis, who posted 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Willis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Layla Lesure, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.

Plainfield East has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-10 record this season. As for Plainfield South, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Coming up, Plainfield East will face off against Wheaton North at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Plainfield South, they will square off against Saint Ignatius College Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
