Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ehmarii Mcchristian and Samara Oliver Lead Lakes to Victory

There's no place like home for Lakes, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They managed a 59-53 victory over the Peninsula Seahawks on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the Lancers: when they faced off against the Seahawks last Friday, they had to take a 42-37 defeat.

Leading Lakes to victory were Samara Oliver and Ehmarii Mcchristian. Oliver dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards, while Mcchristian went 5 of 9 on her way to 16 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Mcchristian has posted since back in December of 2024. Nevaeh Tutt was another key player, putting up six points.

Lakes smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peninsula only pulled down six offensive boards.

When it comes to explaining why Peninsula lost, don't look at Grace Richardson. Despite the final result, she scored 30 points and three steals. That was a full 56.6% of Peninsula's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Paige Jones, who had three points and seven steals.

Lakes now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Peninsula, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-10.

Coming up, Lakes will challenge Evergreen at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Peninsula does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
