Lyford had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They never let the Port Isabel Tarpons get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Monday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Tarpons recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

The result came thanks to Jack Chavez's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Lyford let Jacob Reyna and John Reyna run wild. Jacob scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while John scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Jacob has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maverick Claffy, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Lyford hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Port Isabel struck out 11 times.

Lyford wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 17-0 win against Benavides on the 20th. As for Port Isabel, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-4 defeat against Donna North on the 20th.
