Preview: Kit Carson Wildcats vs. Springfield Longhorns
Two dominant in Avery Johnson and Lainee Leathers are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Kit Carson Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Springfield Longhorns at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Kit Carson entered their tilt with Granada with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Kit Carson blew past Granada 51-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Kit Carson has posted against Granada since January 11, 2019.
Payge Booker-rady was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Springfield posted their biggest win since December 1, 2023 last Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 50-19 victory over Primero. With Springfield ahead 31-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Springfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karina Garcia, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Bay Ellis was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Kit Carson pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Springfield, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Everything came up roses for Kit Carson against Springfield when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 57-24 victory. Does Kit Carson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Springfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
