Softball Recap: Orland Trojans vs. West Valley Eagles
Orland and West Valley squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Orland had to settle for second. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 9-6.
Ella McDermott and Gracie Cutshall did some serious damage despite the final result: McDermott went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Cutshall went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Taryn Pollin, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Orland has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season. As for West Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.
