Game recap

CLEVELAND, Mo. - Midway (Cleveland, Mo.) kept up a steady attack all game long to beat Archie (Mo.), 27-0, on Saturday.

The Vikings were up 20-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Tanner Yahnig in the first quarter.

Midway expanded its lead to 27 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored once in the quarter on a Peyton Semsch touchdown pass to Bobby Zielinski.

A 14-point second quarter helped the Cleveland school secure the big victory. The Vikings rushed for two touchdowns on the ground during the quarter, including one by Semsch.

Semsch played well for Midway in the victory. He threw one touchdown, ran for one touchdown and kicked one extra point.

MHS went into the matchup giving up only 10.0 points per game. The Whirlwinds' zero points were well below their season average of 17.1 per game.

The Vikings got revenge for last year's 20-13 loss to Archie with the victory.

The defeat comes as a step back for Archie, which notched a 34-6 victory over Liberal in its previous outing. The victory was a step in the right direction for Midway, which was coming off a 37-36 defeat at the hands of Sherwood in its previous game.
