Basketball Game Preview: Beaver Dam Diamondback vs. Round Mountain Knights

Beaver Dam hasn't had much luck against Round Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Beaver Dam Diamondback will take on the Round Mountain Knights at 6:20 p.m.

Beaver Dam heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Saturday. They lost 37-16 to Pahranagat Valley. The match marked the Diamondback's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Round Mountain came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 42-32 victory over the Thunderbirds.

Round Mountain's win came from a few key players Beaver Dam will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ava Faga, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Round Mountain is 13-4 when Faga posts eight or more boards, but 1-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Faga, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Round Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Beaver Dam now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Round Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.

Beaver Dam suffered a grim 49-27 defeat to Round Mountain when the teams last played back in February of 2018. Thankfully for Beaver Dam, Alyssa Hanks (who went 13-for-24 en route to 27 points and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
