Baseball Recap: Oasis Academy Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Oasis Academy blew Yerington out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Yerington got their revenge. The Bighorns fell just short of the Lions by a score of 7-5. The Bighorns were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 14-3.

Joshua Gusewelle was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Ryder McNabb was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Oasis Academy's defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-3. As for Yerington, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oasis Academy will challenge Pershing County at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bighorns are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Yerington, they will take on Incline at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Highlanders have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
