Football Recap: Rush-Henrietta Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Rush-Henrietta won the last time they faced University Prep and things went their way on Thursday too. The Royal Comets put the hurt on the Griffins with a sharp 40-14 victory. With the Royal Comets ahead 27-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rush-Henrietta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brendan Mangone, who threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. The dominant performance also gave Mangone a new career-high in passer rating (165.2). Imani Wagstaff helped Mangone out on the ground, rushing for 167 yards and one TD while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also catching one touchdown.

Rush-Henrietta was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 256 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Another reason for the win was Rush-Henrietta's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. University Prep's QB won't forget Ryder Zuchengo anytime soon given he sacked him twice.

The win keeps Rush-Henrietta at an undefeated 4-0. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.0 points on average this season. As for University Prep, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2.
