Academy of Careers & Exploration has gone a perfect 10-0 against Lucerne Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Eagle will host the Mustangs at 3:15 p.m. Academy of Careers & Exploration is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Last Tuesday, Academy of Careers & Exploration made easy work of Silver Valley and carried off a 22-2 win. The Eagle might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by eight runs or more this season.
Izabella Sanchez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She also put up four walks, which were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Academy of Careers & Exploration got a massive performance out of Kamie Costa, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave Costa a new career-high. Taylor Coffel was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3.
Academy of Careers & Exploration kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Lucerne Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Hesperia Christian, falling 20-2. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Mustangs couldn't push the score so high this time.
Lucerne Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Genesis Ayala, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Academy of Careers & Exploration pushed their record up to 7-6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Lucerne Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
Lucerne Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Academy of Careers & Exploration has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Lucerne Valley, though, as they've been averaging 10.6 hits. Given Academy of Careers & Exploration's sizable advantage in that area, the Mustangs will need to find a way to close that gap.
