Volleyball Recap: Algonquin Regional Takes a Loss

If Algonquin Regional was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Medway on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Titans took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Groton-Dunstable Crusaders on Friday. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-19, 18-25, 25-16, 25-21.

Tessa Novello paced Algonquin Regional's offense, picking up eight kills. Novello were helped by Rhea Anand and CarolAnn Smith, who contributed 12 assists each. Finally, Novello was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

Algonquin Regional dropped their record down to 4-13 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Groton-Dunstable, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Looking ahead, Algonquin Regional will venture away from home to square off against Leominster at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Groton-Dunstable, they will host Millbury at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
