Baseball Recap: Saucon Valley Has No Trouble Against Catasauqua

The matchup between Saucon Valley and Catasauqua on Thursday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. Saucon Valley put the hurt on Catasauqua with a sharp 17-3 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Rough Riders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Noah Hubert made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cole Hubert was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Chris Hill, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Saucon Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Saucon Valley pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Catasauqua, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Saucon Valley and Catasauqua will both be playing Northwestern Lehigh the next time they take the field. Catasauqua will host Northwestern Lehigh at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while Saucon Valley will head out to face them at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
