Basketball Recap: South Spencer Rebels vs. Gibson Southern Titans
South Spencer lost against Gibson Southern back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The South Spencer Rebels took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gibson Southern Titans. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Titans are ranked 48th).

Several Rebels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alexis Harris, who posted 13 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Harris a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Jaci Meece, who put up 14 points and five rebounds.
Leading Gibson Southern to victory were Paige Schnaus and Nola Ravellette. Schnaus went 6 of 10 on her way to 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and five blocks, while Ravellette went 6 of 9 on her way to 14 points and eight rebounds. Schnaus has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Spink, who had 12 points and seven boards.
This is the second loss in a row for South Spencer and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Gibson Southern, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4.
South Spencer wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 49-25 victory against Muhlenberg County on the 21st. As for Gibson Southern, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 81-33 win against Pike Central on the 19th.
