Baseball Recap: Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Has No Trouble Against Fuqua

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 18-run drubbing they dealt Fuqua on Thursday. The Knights blew past the Falcons 19-1. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.

Matthew Fountain was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Fountain was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot got a massive performance out of Jon Michael Lee, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Lee has posted since back in April of 2024. Nathan Danburg was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's record is now 5-8. As for Fuqua, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot will challenge Cumberland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dukes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fuqua, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Tidewater Academy at 3:00 p.m. on the 21st. The Falcons are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
