Basketball Game Preview: Lamar Vikings vs. Haltom Buffalos

The Lamar Vikings will head out to challenge the Haltom Buffalos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lamar will bounce into Friday's game after beating Martin, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Lamar was the clear victor by a 59-39 margin over Martin on Tuesday. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Lamar's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Fennix Roberts, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 boards. Those 13 rebounds gave Roberts a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Markesia Webster, who went 6 of 10 en route to 17 points.

Meanwhile, Haltom didn't have too much trouble with Arlington on Tuesday as they won 45-31.

Lamar's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-11. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Haltom, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 10-16.

Lamar was able to grind out a solid win over Haltom in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 63-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lamar since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
