Softball Recap: Verrado Wins Going Away Against St. Johns

Verrado picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They blew past the St. Johns Redskins 14-6. The result was nothing new for the Vipers, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Jill Ryan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ryan was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 games.

In other batting news, Jaiden Stell was a standout: she fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Falk, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Verrado lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Verrado and bumps their season record up to 20-4. As for St. Johns, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 17-5 record.

Verrado has already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Flagstaff on the 19th. As for St. Johns, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 20-2 win against Northland Prep Academy on the 21st.
