Softball Recap: Marlington Starts Season with Win on the Road

Marlington had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out the Louisville Leopards 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Dukes have posted since April 15, 2024.

Justine Doringo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Chelsea Miller was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Maria Walder, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Louisville is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, Marlington will venture away from home to take on Walsh Jesuit at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Walsh Jesuit's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Marlington's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Louisville, they will welcome Canfield at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Canfield will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Louisville surely won't give up without a fight.
