Volleyball Recap: Valley Indians vs. South Webster Jeeps
Valley and South Webster squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Valley had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Jeeps by a score of 3-2. The Indians were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jeeps earlier this season, when they won 3-0.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Valley sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 23-25, 26-24, 22-25, 15-8.
Kendyl Christman paced Valley's offense, picking up 22 kills. Christman got some help from Katelyn Queen and her 36 assists. Evayah Vice and Ella Thompson kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.
Leading South Webster to victory were Emma Campbell and Addi Claxon. Campbell had eight digs and eight assists, while Claxon had 25 digs, 11 kills, and four aces. Claxon is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least six every time she's taken the court this season. Chloe Milligan also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Valley's loss dropped their record down to 18-6. As for South Webster, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.
Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Webster, they will take on Newark Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
