Volleyball Recap: Center Grove Starts Season with Win on the Road

Center Grove had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Barr-Reeve Vikings as they made off with a 3-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Center Grove not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Barr-Reeve between 19 and 21 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-19, 25-20.

Kaylen Plunkard paced Center Grove's offense, picking up six kills. Plunkard got some help from Anabelle Schembra and her 22 assists. Schembra was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Lora Graber and Hallie Knepp certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Graber had ten digs and two aces, while Knepp had five digs and one block. Knepp has been hot for a while, having also posted 15 or more assists the last 16 times she's played.

Center Grove has already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Trinity Lutheran on the 18th. As for Barr-Reeve, they will host Castle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
