Softball Recap: East Dubuque Extends Winning Streak to Six

East Dubuque came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the West Carroll Thunder by a score of 6-2. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by exactly four runs.

Curin Oberman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Katie Welp was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: East Dubuque lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

East Dubuque pushed their record up to 10-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for West Carroll, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

East Dubuque will square off against Dakota at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 4.1, the Indians 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. West Carroll will be paying especially close attention to East Dubuque's contest: after East Dubuque faces off against Dakota, they'll take on West Carroll again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
