Basketball Game Preview: South Aiken Thoroughbreds vs. Aiken Fighting Green Hornets

The South Aiken Thoroughbreds will head out to face off against the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Aiken has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Friday, South Aiken was able to grind out a solid victory over Midland Valley, taking the game 45-36.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Aiken to victory, but perhaps none more so than A'Mya Robinson, who went 6 of 8 on her way to 13 points along with six boards and three steals. Robinson is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Myracle Culbreath, who went 5 for 9 en route to 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

South Aiken smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Aiken has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were outmatched by Fountain Inn and fell 74-42.

South Aiken now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Aiken, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

South Aiken came up short against Aiken in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 52-42. Can South Aiken avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
