Softball Recap: Frankton's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Madison-Grant, Frankton was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Blackford Bruins a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Paige Parker made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

In other pitching news, Grace Kessinger looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.

Parker wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Malorie Clark, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

With the win, Frankton broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-7. As for Blackford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Frankton will be playing at home against Delta at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Delta has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.89 runs per game on average), something Frankton will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Blackford, they will venture away from home to face off against Maconaquah at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bruins are facing the Braves at the right time seeing as the Braves are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
