Basketball Game Preview: Bethune Bobcats vs. Deer Trail Eagles

Bethune and Deer Trail are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Bethune Bobcats will face off against the Deer Trail Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Bethune is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 75 points on Thursday, they were much more limited against Weskan on Tuesday. They were outmatched by the Coyotes and fell 64-28. The defeat continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Coyotes: they've now lost nine in a row.

Meanwhile, Deer Trail was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 65-10 loss at the hands of Cheraw. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Deer Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Bethune, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Bethune strolled past Deer Trail in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 31-13. Will Bethune repeat their success, or does Deer Trail have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
