Recap: Eldon Mustangs vs. Southern Boone Eagles
The Eldon Mustangs waltzed into their match Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Southern Boone with points to spare, taking the game 69-51. This was payback for Eldon, who suffered a 60-53 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Eldon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sydney Halderman out in front who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which Halderman has scored at least 25% of Eldon's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Mcghay, who scored 21 points.
Eldon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Southern Boone, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Eldon will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Buffalo at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. As for Southern Boone, they will head out on the road to face off against Hickman at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Hickman's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
