Basketball Recap: Springport Spartans vs. Union City Chargers
Even though the Springport Spartans have not done well against the Union City Chargers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Springport skirted past the Chargers 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Springport has posted since December 8, 2023.
Springport's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Kregel, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Kregel continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dallas Higelmire, who scored 12 points.
Springport is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Union City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springport will square off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Union City, they will head out on the road to take on the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
