Baseball Recap: Falkville Wins Going Away Against Columbia

Falkville won the last time they faced Columbia and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Falkville Blue Devils were the clear victor by an 18-5 margin over the Columbia Eagles. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Bryant Owens and Clay Fitzgerald did most of the damage at the plate: Owens scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Fitzgerald scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Fitzgerald a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Briley Tomlin, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Falkville now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Columbia, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Falkville will head out on the road to challenge West End at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Columbia, they will take on Crossville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
