Baseball Game Preview: Dixie Flyers vs. Hurricane Tigers

For the second straight game, Dixie will face off against Hurricane. The Flyers will be playing at home against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, Dixie needed a bit of extra time to put away Hurricane. They skirted past the Tigers 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Flyers have posted against the Tigers since April 5, 2022.

Dixie gave Beckham Webb the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, Webb posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Dixie let Triston Munson and Carson Hunt run wild. Munson went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, while Hunt went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those two doubles gave Munson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Weston Gilmore, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Dixie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Dixie and bumps their season record up to 14-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Hurricane, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.
