Baseball Game Preview: Elder Panthers vs. Badin Rams

Elder is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Badin is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Panthers will host the Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Elder proved they can win big on Monday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Ross.

Mason Chumbley was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Carson Smith was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Badin faced Archbishop Moeller in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Rams came out on top against the Fighting Crusaders by a score of 7-2.

Caleb Driessen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Derek Ogden, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Clay, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Elder's victory bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Badin, their win bumped their record up to 18-3.
