Volleyball Recap: Amplus Academy Falls to Liberty in First Game of Season

Amplus Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Liberty Patriots on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Archers haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

While Amplus Academy was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Liberty's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-16, 25-17.

Amplus Academy's offense was headlined by Armand Nahabedian and Jett Niles, who picked up three kills apiece. They got some help from Gideon Schelin and his 11 assists.

Among those leading the charge was GABRIEL BALTAZAR, who had eight digs and four aces. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in aces. CASH MOSER also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Liberty has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.

Amplus Academy is taking a road trip to challenge Las Vegas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Liberty, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Desert Oasis on the 10th.
