Baseball Recap: Northridge Academy Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Northridge Academy never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against East Valley on Friday. They walked away with a 15-11 victory over the Falcons. Considering the Pumas' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Oscar Zamora Hernandez and Jesse Caballero made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Zamora Hernandez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Caballero struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Zamora Hernandez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Northridge Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 0-4 otherwise. At the plate, Zamora Hernandez scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3, while Caballero scored four runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-4. Caballero has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Alberto Zamora was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-4. Angel Solis was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Northridge Academy's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. As for East Valley, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-2.

Northridge Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-2 loss against Reseda on the 2nd. East Valley has also already played their next matchup (against Canoga Park), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
