Basketball Recap: Williamstown Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Williamstown won the last time they faced Belpre and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Yellowjackets came out on top against the Golden Eagles by a score of 47-37. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 18th in West Virginia, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 460th in Ohio) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gracie Bills, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards. Bills has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Khloe Cooper was another key player, shooting 56% from the field on her way to 11 points and six rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Williamstown and bumps their season record up to 9-2. As for Belpre, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Williamstown has already played their next matchup, a 65-36 win against Doddridge County on the 19th. As for Belpre, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-51 defeat against Trimble on the 15th.
