Basketball Recap: Rossville Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Rossville unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Pioneer Panthers by a score of 49-47. The Hornets lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 59-28 score last time.

Despite the loss, Rossville still got an impressive performance from Ava Burkle, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 boards. The matchup was Burkle's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Elliott, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Rossville's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Pioneer, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rossville will take on Faith Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rossville is facing Faith Christian at the right time seeing as Faith Christian is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Pioneer, they will welcome Frontier at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
