Softball Recap: Academic Magnet Comes Up Short

Academic Magnet extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-7. They came up short against the Andrews Yellowjackets, falling 18-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raptors of the 16-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.

Charlotte Kandik was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. Elena Barber also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

As for Andrews, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The matchup marked their most dominant victory of the season so far.

On Andrews' side, Karaline Gainey was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave Gainey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jenna Cook, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Looking ahead, Andrews will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Conway at 6:00 p.m. Academic Magnet will be paying especially close attention to the Yellowjackets' game: after the Yellowjackets face off against the Tigers, they'll take on Academic Magnet again at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
