Basketball Recap: Kinsley Tompkins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead University Christian over St. Thomas More Academy

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact University Christian can now relate to. They lost to the St. Thomas More Academy Chancellors on the road by a 64-46 margin on Tuesday.

University Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kinsley Tompkins, who posted 21 points. Tompkins is becoming a predictor of University Christian's success: when she posts at least 15 points the team is 7-1 (and 3-4 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Ellie Adams, who earned 12 points.

St. Thomas More Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Winnie Dehring, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and ten steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Adella Dehring, who put up 16 points along with seven steals and six assists.

University Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for St. Thomas More Academy, they pushed their record up to 14-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

University Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Thomas More Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge The Burlington School at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Burlington School will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something St. Thomas More Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
