The Daleville Broncos will head out on the road to square off against the Southern Wells Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Daleville has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Muncie Burris hit Daleville with a six-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Broncos came up short against the Owls, falling 11-3. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ayden Ramirez was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Ramirez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Noah Colvin was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Daleville is 2-1 when Colvin posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Aikin, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.
Southern Wells couldn't beat South Adams on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Raiders lost 12-6 to the Starfires.
Southern Wells saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Yoder, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was Yoder's first of the season.
Daleville now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Southern Wells, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Daleville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Southern Wells struggles in that department as they've averaged .431. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Daleville was able to grind out a solid victory over Southern Wells in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 8-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
