Football Recap: West Anchorage Wins High-Profile Contest Against Bartlett

West Anchorage faced Bartlett in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Eagles walked away with a 32-25 victory over the Golden Bears. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Golden Bears: they've now won six in a row.

Rezhanai Wyche produced another solid effort rushing for 193 yards and one TD on only nine carries, while also picking up 98 receiving yards. She really tore up the turf during one magnificent 82-yard run. Another player making a difference was Ariel Misa, who threw for 188 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Anchorage was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 275 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.

West Anchorage's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Ashlyn Seryko, Lana Mike, and Anna Zieserl, who each picked up one sack apiece.

West Anchorage's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Bartlett, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-7.

West Anchorage wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 29-12 defeat against Dimond on the 17th. As for Bartlett, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-0 loss against South Anchorage on the 17th.
