Soccer Game Preview: Colonial Forge vs. Riverbend

The Colonial Forge Eagles will head out to face off against the Riverbend Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Friday just wasn't the day for Colonial Forge's offense. They fell just short of Mountain View by a score of 1-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Colonial Forge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Mountain View are ranked sixth).

Meanwhile, Riverbend kept a clean sheet against North Stafford on Friday. They beat the Wolverines by a goal, winning 1-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Riverbend.

This is the second loss in a row for Colonial Forge and nudges their season record down to 4-4-3. As for Riverbend, the win got them back to even at 6-6-1.

Colonial Forge came out on top in a nail-biter against Riverbend when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
