Basketball Recap: Clara Williams and Ava Schlotzhauer Secure Win for Tipton

Tipton had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Clopton Hawks on Saturday as the Tipton Cardinals made off with a 65-43 win. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 21 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Leading Tipton to victory were Ava Schlotzhauer and Clara Williams. Schlotzhauer dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Williams dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. Schlotzhauer's big performance that afternoon made it 16 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Anna Crane was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Tipton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Tipton's victory bumped their record up to 26-4. As for Clopton, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 24-4 record.

Coming up, Tipton will challenge St. Vincent on Friday. St. Vincent knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 games -- so hopefully Tipton likes a good challenge. Clopton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
