Softball Game Preview: HCYA vs. Grand Oaks Grizzlies

HCYA is 0-5 against Grand Oaks since March of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. HCYA will square off against the Grand Oaks Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. HCYA is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, HCYA and Fort Bend Christian Academy finished up their match with a 3-3 draw.

Taegan Lermann spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February.

Meanwhile, Grand Oaks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Oak Ridge. The game marked the first time this season in which the Grizzlies were not able to get on the board.

Grand Oaks' loss dropped their record down to 12-6. HCYA's tie makes their record 18-5-4 this season.

HCYA might still be hurting after the 13-4 defeat they got from Grand Oaks in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can HCYA avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
