Football Recap: Jonathan Hatton Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Reagan

Steele won the last time they faced Reagan and things went their way on Friday too. The Knights strolled past the Rattlers with points to spare, taking the game 28-13. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Rattlers are ranked 127th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Steele to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jonathan Hatton, who rushed for 122 yards and a pair of TDs. DJ Green was another key passer, throwing for 200 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.

Steele's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jared Ibarra, Nolan Gomez, and Le'Montae Smith, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Steele has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 23 points this season. As for Reagan, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Steele will host Brandeis at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Reagan, they are taking a road trip to challenge Temple at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
