Baseball Recap: Elmwood Park Comes Up Short

Thursday just wasn't the day for Elmwood Park's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Elgin Storm on Thursday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mathew Sutherland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

Elmwood Park's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13-1. As for South Elgin, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-9.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Elmwood Park will take on Intrinsic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for South Elgin, they will host Riverside-Brookfield at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
