Baseball Game Preview: St. Xavier Bombers vs. Anderson Raptors

St. Xavier has won three straight games at home, while Anderson has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Bombers will welcome the Raptors at 5:00 p.m.

St. Xavier fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Miamisburg on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 2-1. The Bombers' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Anderson came out on top against West Clermont on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Raptors walked away with a 5-2 win over the Wolves. The Raptors have beaten the Wolves the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolves has come to flipping the script.

Bryce Hammack looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Henry Bee, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Hudson Best was another key player, going 1-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

St. Xavier's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Anderson, their victory bumped their record up to 14-11.

St. Xavier skirted past Anderson 7-5 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Bombers repeat their success, or do the Raptors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
