Baseball Recap: Chatfield Gophers vs. Pine Island Panthers

Chatfield couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 13-2 walloping at the hands of the Pine Island Panthers on Friday. Chatfield was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pine Island apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in June of 2023.

For Pine Island's part, Luke Sems made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Sems was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs.

In other pitching news, Talan Bond looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk).
