Softball Preview: Ansonia Tigers vs. Fort Recovery Indians
The Ansonia Tigers will challenge the Fort Recovery Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ansonia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Fort Recovery will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Ansonia extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday. Everything went the Tigers' way against Legacy Christian Academy as they made off with a 19-2 win. Considering the Tigers have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Miley Walls made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Shyann McKenna was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lillian Kaiser, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run.
Ansonia hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
