Basketball Recap: Seward Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

It was a Battle of the Birds when Seward faced off against Lincoln Northwest on Thursday. The Bluejays managed a 48-43 win over the Falcons. The victory was nothing new for the Bluejays as they're now sitting on three straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Seward to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bostyn Happ, who went 8-for-15 to rack up 21 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Happ a new career-high. Jack Vyhnalek was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to 12 rebounds and five assists.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Roman Stepanyuk, who shot 47% from the field en route to 19 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Myles Parker, who posted nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Seward's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-11. As for Lincoln Northwest, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Seward has already played their next contest, a 79-62 victory against Blair on the 6th. As for Lincoln Northwest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 81-33 defeat against Elkhorn North on the 7th.
