Softball Recap: Schalmont Comes Up Short

Schalmont fell victim to Catholic Central and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crusaders. That makes it the first time this season the Sabres have let down their home crowd.

This is the second loss in a row for Schalmont and nudges their season record down to 12-4. As for Catholic Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Schalmont will host Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Ravens have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.86 runs per game on average), something the Sabres will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Catholic Central, they are taking a road trip to challenge La Salle Institute at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Crusaders are facing the Cadets at the right time seeing as the Cadets are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
