Softball Game Preview: Medford Raiders vs. Northland Pines Eagles

Medford has gone a perfect 10-0 against Northland Pines recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Raiders will be playing at home against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Medford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Medford got the win against Antigo by a conclusive 10-2. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won four matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Rylee Hraby made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Victoria Konieczny, who went 3-for-5 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Finley Arndt, who went 3-for-5 with three runs.

Medford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Northland Pines was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Lakeland, falling 24-1.

Northland Pines' defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Medford, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

Northland Pines' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Medford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. It's a different story for Northland Pines, though, as they've only averaged .135. Will they be able to contain Medford's hitters?

Medford took their victory against Northland Pines in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-8 score. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
